Are you ready to make history? In August 2008, Habonim Dror North America will be running its 58th Workshop program in Israel and you are among the potential participants! Workshop is a year where you, together with your national kvutzah, will experience Israel from the inside, integrating into various sectors of Israeli society, including the agricultural kibbutz, an urban collective (Irbutz), and various volunteer positions. Additionally, your peers will span the globe, including World Habonim Dror participants from countries such as England, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many others. The program also includes a special journey to Poland, and includes a thorough historical overview of the Shoah (Holocaust) with an emphasis on the involvement of the youth movements in resistance.
Core contents of the program: An integral part of the Workshop experience is the educational programming. Throughout the year, the Workshoppers participate in informal ideological and educational seminars which focus on the following topics: Jewish Identity, The Kibbutz Movement, Israeli Society and Politics, Zionist History, The Jewish Year Cycle, Alternative Approaches to Judaism, Student Activism, the Israeli Army, the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Archaeology, International Habonim Dror and Israel-Diaspora Relations. As educated individuals, Workshoppers will become better equipped to participate in the ongoing dialogue about Israel so that they may help shape its future and the future of the Jewish people.
