Funding resources
* New Resource: The National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarships - NSEP awards scholarships to American students for study of world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American & the Caribbean, and the Middle East).
NSEP David L. Boren Scholarship made changes this past year to accommodate students wanting to study abroad in countries on the US State Department Warning List. The information can be found on this page: http://www.iie.org/programs/nsep/undergraduate/faq.htm
1. Aliyah Representatives abroad- these people can help direct you towards scholarship opportunities in Israel and answer other questions about Israel, not only Aliyah.
2. Contact local Jewish Organizations. Even if your Federation is not listed on the list provided, its worthwhile to contact the Jewish Federation in your community.
3. Also, contact your synagogue or rabbi and ask if there are funds set aside for young adult travel to Israel.
4. Contact other Jewish and Israel-oriented organizations that you (or your parents) are associated with to find additional funding for your trip.
5. Helyn B. Reich Memorial Scholarship Fund -- The Helyn B. Reich Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 in memory of Helyn B. Reich, wife of founding AZM President Seymour D. Reich. Reich scholarships are awarded each year to a limited number of American students who choose to study at one of several designated Israeli universities. Preference is given to candidates who decide to spend the full year in Israel. For more information about the scholarship, please call the AZM Chicago office at 847-677-5949 or visit the web site at

6. Jeff Seidel's Scholarship to Israel - $500 scholarships towards airfare to come to study in Israel on affiliated programs for Birthright and Hillel alumni.
7. American Jewish League, Israel University Scholarship - Provides eligible students scholarships to attend Israeli Universities.
8. The Dorot Foundation - Travel grants to accredited Israeli colleges and universities.
9. Scholarships from Rotary International - The Rotarians offer scholarships up to $26,000 for Israeli university studies and Hebrew studies.

12. The Alisa Flatow Memorial Scholarship Fund - for post-high school study in Israel programs which earn college credits. The intention of the Fund is for those students showing academic promise in religious studies and a need for financial assistance to pursue study in Israel, and it is open to men and women who are not currently in Israel. 14. The Amy Adine Schulman Scholarship Fund - The grant requires a commitment to educate others through lecture, program or other activities upon returning to your home or school community. You must be willing and able to do this so others will have the opportunity to learn about and to be inspired to do similar work. Please apply at http://www.amyadinaschulmanfund.org/
